Saturday is the main transfer day and we invite everyone arriving in resort for dinner in a local restaurant for a traditional Savoyarde meal.
Arriving on friday will offer an extra day (Saturday) to explore Val d'Isère in the summer. Equally, there is also no rush to leave after your course. If you would like to stay for extra nights, we charge a small supplement for bed and breakfast.
Bring your partner (or a friend) - for a discounted price they can share your room, join us at the breakfast, lunch and dinner table and spend their week enjoying everything the Tarentaise valley has to offer.

You are welcome to bring a partner or friend (or more than 1).
For £95 per person per night, your partner / friend can join us for the following package without the cookery classes, leaving them the day free to get out and experience everything Val d'Isère has to offer.
Our vans aim to leave Geneva airport at approximately 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon getting you into Val d’Isère around 6.30pm, just in time to have a shower and join us for dinner at 8.30pm.
At the end of the course we depart Val d’Isère at 9.30am with a view to arrive at Geneva airport by 12.30pm.
Flights are not included in the course fee.
A ten second walk from the church, at the very heart of Val d'Isère's quaint and quiet old village, and mere metres from the town centre, nursery slopes, summer lifts, bus stops and all the shops.
If you wonder why you've never noticed Les Chardons, it is next to the Hôtel Les Cinq Frères (which you've probably never noticed either) on that little lane which leads from the Tourist Office roundabout to the church. Very few people and even fewer vehicles use this road, and it really is astonishingly silent. Even the church clock doesn't chime at night.
Inside, the hotel is much more comfortable than one might imagine from its slightly plain exterior.
The hotel dining room is the site for our training kitchen. As our groups are more intimate in the summer than the winter we have combined the sitting and dining rooms to create a cosy atmosphere for our evening dinner parties.
Soft drinks and wine are included at lunch and dinner on the retreat course and with dinner on the cookery foundation course.
There's the snug, a second sitting area with full HD Sky+ for those of you who don't want to miss the Test Match/News/America's Next Top Model or whatever.
There's a ski/snowboard/bike locker.
The bedrooms aren't huge, but they're comfortable, with modern bathrooms, good lighting, brand new handmade curtains and cosy duvets. Some have balconies, and all the rooms' views range from good to fabulous. If views don't do it for you, eight bedrooms (2, 3, 4, 5, 14, 15, 16 and 17) also have little flat-screen TVs with British Freeview.
Students are given their own room with en-suite facilities, the rooms with the nicer views or bigger balcony's will be filled on a first come first served basis.
The prices on this website are in sterling. All courses / accommodation is priced per person. Each person must pay the course price applicable to the dates and length of his individual course. VAT has been included in the price of all holidays. Telephone quotes are subject to written confirmation.
Once your course has been booked its price will not change even if the value of sterling falls. However, we reserve the right to amend our prices before you book and to notify you of the new prices when you book.
Payment in full at the time of booking. Cancellation rates are as follows:
Payment may be made by cheque (made payable to ‘YSE Limited’), bank transfer (CHAPS, FPC or Bacs) or by credit/debit card. Please note that credit card payments are subject to a 2% fee. Payments by debit card, bank transfer or cheque do not incur a surcharge. We accept American Express cards and these are also subject to a 2% fee.

The above account is for sterling payments only. If you wish to pay in euros (IBAN, BIC/SWIFT) or from overseas, please contact YSE for alternative bank details and the relevant exchange rate.
Please check that bank charges are not deducted from the YSE balance. We will add any bank charges incurred by us onto your booking.
Please note that if we are required to make a refund to a credit card, the refund will also incur the 2% fee because we are now being charged a fee by our card processor. If the reason for the refund is due to an error made by YSE, there will be no charge and refunds to debit cards do not incur the surcharge.
When making a bank transfer from overseas you must ensure that the net amount arrives in our account and that all related bank charges are paid by you.
We do not require a damage deposit, however any damage caused to the property will be charged to the person responsible. It is a condition of booking that any cost to repair or replace damaged property will be paid before leaving the resort.
It is a condition of booking that all Clients have adequate insurance. You will be responsible for any costs that arise following an incident and any claims made. YSE / YSE cookery school will not be held responsible for any injury /loss or damage resulting from any third party activity. We cannot give advice on any insurance policies.
You are advised to obtain an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) for all members of your party. The EHIC is not an alternative to taking out an insurance policy.
For our courses to run efficiently they require a minimum of three participants. If the course fails to meet this requirement, we reserve the right to cancel the course. In this instance we will offer you the choice of another course or a full refund on your course fees (flight not included).
Should you wish to make any alteration to your booking after it has been confirmed by us, we will comply with your request where possible. If the alteration is substantial and/or you lower the value of a holiday already booked, we reserve the right to levy an administration charge of £25.
You undertake to behave in such a manner as not to disrupt the enjoyment of others and undertake not to prejudice our reputation with our customers, the owners of our accommodation or our suppliers. The course of any student in breach of this clause may be terminated immediately and we will have no further contractual obligations towards him or them. In addition we reserve the right to recover in the resort the cost (or estimated cost if an actual cost is not yet known) of any loss, damage or breakage caused by any student. We cannot accept responsibility for the actions of any student or be held liable for any claims made against them.
We use a third party transfer company. The fee for joining us on a Saturday is included in the course. Students must arrange their transfer details directly with Snowdrone Transfers.
We will do our utmost to help with all aspects of your booking and to incorporate any special requests you may make. These may involve an extra cost and we will let you know if this is the case. Only requests confirmed by us in writing are guaranteed.
All students must be in possession of a valid passport along with all necessary visas and permits to allow entry into France or Switzerland and to allow re-entry into the UK. Any costs or fines incurred due to a student's failure to comply with any regulations will be passed on to the Party Leader of the booking.
At the time of publication, there were no specific vaccinations for travelling to France or Switzerland. For up-to-date UK Government Health & Safety advice, please visit www.fco.gov.uk, www.hpa.org.uk and www.nathnac.org or contact your own GP.
In all the arrangements we have made for your course we have taken reasonable steps to ensure that the suppliers of the services used are of an acceptable standard. However, we would point out that we do not own or control the organisations providing transport or accommodation.
We accept responsibility for the services we have contracted to provide except where the services in question consist of carriage by air the liability for which shall be further limited in the manner provided by international conventions (such as the Montreal Convention). We cannot accept liability where the provision of services is interrupted by reason of war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, closure or congestion of airports or airways, technical problems to transport, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, fire or adverse weather conditions.
If you suffer personal injury or death from any activity which is not part of your course booked with us but occurs during the course, we will not be liable for any compensation but will give assistance in resolving a claim against a third party, if required. This assistance will include where necessary and appropriate, and at our discretion, the payment of legal fees up to a limit of £5,000 per booking. This is on condition that an insurance claim is made under the Legal Expenses section of your insurance cover in respect of any legal fees incurred abroad, and that your insurance company confirms that you are covered for such a claim before any payment can be made by us. It is also a condition that YSE is repaid out of any monies recovered from a third party or insurance policy
